At a time in which digital cinema has been predominant for over a decade, the use of film is already being seen as an alternative method, providing freedom from the demands of technical accuracy, and allowing for the exploration of creativity in an experimental use of moving images. During LEF16, a project which took place at the Theater and Film School (ESTC) of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute (IPL Lisboa) as part of the funded artistic practice IDI&CA 2024, the analog processing of 16mm film and the results inherent to this method were tested. The present article sheds light on part of this process and reflects on how this predominantly practical and technical procedure can result in creative artistic explorations.
