Abstract

The book The newspaper is on the street: the press at the center of the April Revolution offers us a vast set of data and information on the reality of the Portuguese press sector in the period immediately following the 25th of April, through, in particular, the analysis, evolution and challenges of the fifteen national newspapers that existed at the time, based in Lisbon or Porto. This is an undeniably important time in several aspects related to the media sector: in the definition and ideological disputes regarding public policies, in the supply and diversity of the market and in the participation of journalists and other professionals in the sector in the guidance of the media.
