Abstract

The concept of literacy refers to a dynamic and fluid knowledge process centred on empowerment for conscious and responsible action. This text takes up multiple classic and emerging literacies, which are essential for reflexivity and critical thinking, as well as for agency and action. Literacy proves to be crucial for citizenship, empowering individuals, and enabling them to live a full, dignified, active, participatory, free, responsible and democratic citizenship.
