Abstract

In one of the rare works done in Portugal on documentary photography and photojournalism, Fátima Lopes Cardoso revisits central issues of the ontology of photography and its place in the journalistic press, articulating empirical experience with theory and interviews with photographers. The historical component of the work has as its main distinguishing feature the analysis of the last 40 years, marked by a brief golden era and subsequent crisis. For the author, the hope of documentary photography and photojournalism are the new media, as they involve photography, sound and video.
