Abstract

Education contributes to enhancing individual and community transformation. Associated with this process, there are currently new educational phenomena, such as Education and Media Literacy. It is important to clarify and reflect on how Education and Media Literacy can influence the Aging process, namely its purpose, as well as the challenges that arise, in the sense of promoting Active Aging. A narrative review was carried out, with the aim of describing the state of the art, in order to carry out a critical-reflexive analysis. It is urgent to recognize Media Literacy as a promoter of the exercise of a set of actions that characterize democratic societies, promoters of a participatory and critical citizenship, recognizing individual autonomy and the quality of life of all individuals, regardless of age.
