Abstract

In this article we understand Public Communication as the one which involves social collectivities called “publics” and not necessarily as an instance of communication which takes place in a public space or by means of a certain public sphere. In order to explore this idea, we intend to define “publics” as special forms of human association with distinctive features from other groupings as the crowds or the masses. We therefore propose to discuss what are “publics”, what role do they play in society, how can they be grouped and how do they form and evolve.
