Author Guidelines

  1. Comunicação Pública is a free access online academic journal, published every six months, created by the academic community of the ESCS, and open to contributions from any researchers working in the same areas of interest.
  2. Authors must be registered on the ORCID platform (https://orcid.org) before submitting the manuscript for evaluation.
  3. Articles sent for publication must be unpublished and cannot be in the process of being evaluated in other journals at the time of submission or during the evaluation period.
  4. Articles can be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish. The linguistic variants used are a choice of the authors. Texts in Portuguese can be written in European Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese, as long as the linguistic variant is used consistently. The same applies to English and Spanish.
  5. The authors indicate, upon submission, the complete authorship of the manuscript, as subsequent inclusions of authorship are not permitted.
  6. The authors indicate, upon submission, the existence of any conflict of interest.
  7. Upon initial submission, authors complete all metadata required by the journal´s platform.
  8. If applicable, authors must obtain permission to use copyrighted material.
  9. The authors ensure that informed consent and authorization to publish images or any other information that identifies study participants have been obtained. Authors must ensure that participants' real names or clear facial images appear with their express consent.
  10. Authors agree to the copyright statement.
  11. All manuscript proposals are subjected to a preliminary assessment of quality and relevance by the Editorial Board. If they pass this stage, they are sent for external evaluation by at least two independent reviewers, under double anonymity of authors and reviewers (double-blind review). It is up to the Editorial Board the decision to accept, reject or accept with corrections the submitted proposals. When the article is part of a Special Issue, the Editorial Board considers the evaluation carried out by the coordinators of that Special Issue.
  12. The journal does not charge authors fees for submission, review, or publication of the manuscripts.
  13. Submissions must be done using the preformatted template, available on https://journals.ipl.pt/cpublica/about/submissions .

Information Organization

It is mandatory to use the pre-formatted templates and complete all the information requested, namely:

1) article title;

2) name(s) of the author(s); institution; e-mail; ORCID. These data will be available in the published version of the article, so by providing them, the author consents to their disclosure. In manuscripts with multiple authors, the individual contribution of each author follows the principles indicated in the methodology of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRedit); in articles based on dissertations or theses, the name of the author/student must appear first, followed by the supervisor(s);

3) biographical note(s) up to 150 words;

4) acknowledgments and financing (optional); identification of the financing entity;

5) article title, abstract and keywords in Portuguese and English in capital letters;

6) in articles based on previously unpublished dissertations or theses, a note must be added, before the beginning of the article, with this information;

7) Texts in Portuguese must be consistent with the chosen linguistic variety;

8) Not ignoring the differences in spelling that occur among Portuguese-speaking countries, it is recommended that the writing particularities of Portuguese in its different varieties (Brazil, Angola, Mozambique...), as well as those of English and Spanish, are respected.
