Resumo

A comunicação do risco (CR) é um dos maiores desafios para a saúde pública e na prática clínica.
O desejo dos profissionais de saúde e dos utentes é que se tomem as melhores decisões. Contudo, a forma como o clínico transmite a informação condiciona as escolhas do sujeito. Este pode fazer escolhas que não são consentâneas com as evidências reveladas pela ciência. E a ciência pode-lhe impor decisões que não são consentâneas com os seus valores. Neste processo comunicacional está em causa um mensageiro, uma mensagem e um recetor que se pretende decisor de uma ação. A CR efetiva é fulcral para uma decisão informada. Na CR, o profissional deve ter em conta as suas atitudes perante a tomada de decisão, em contexto clínico, conhecer as ferramentas comunicacionais e adaptar os seus comportamentos às necessidades do paciente.
O presente trabalho foca-se na CR no encontro face a face entre profissional de saúde e paciente. Partindo da revisão narrativa da literatura e da experiência do autor, como médico e investigador, pretendeu-se propor um modelo de estratégia estruturada para o processo da CR na prática clínica.
