This article introduces the concept of citizenship and its achievement in the field of health in contexts of diversity. It conjugates findings from several qualitative research projects illustrating some strategies conceived by the State and civil society in response to changes brought about by international migrations. Thus, we identify the population’s needs, barriers to accessing health services, the main sources of inequalities and inequities, and some strategies developed to promote equity in health, highlighting the importance of both cultural and socio-economic issues.
