O impacto psicológico da pandemia da COVID-19 na população geral tem sido amplamente debatido nos diversos meios de comunicação social, bem como por diversos especialistas das áreas da saúde. Começam a surgir cada vez mais estudos acerca do impacto que a pandemia da COVID-19 tem na população em geral e em populações específicas. Devido à patogenicidade do vírus, à taxa de contágio e ainda à taxa de mortalidade, a COVID-19 pode afetar a saúde mental dos indivíduos em várias camadas da sociedade, desde os pacientes infetados, os profissionais de saúde, as famílias, as crianças, os estudantes, os indivíduos portadores
de doença mental, entre outros.
